Privacy Policy

Last updated October 2026.

Midcoast Tech Works (“we”, “us”) is a small, home-based computer repair service in Midcoast Maine. We collect only what we need to help you, and we never sell your information.

What we collect

  • Contact details you give us: your name, email address and/or phone number, your town or ZIP code, and how you prefer to be contacted.
  • Device and problem details: the type of device, its make and model if you know them, and what’s going wrong.
  • Scheduling preferences and any notes you choose to add.
  • Basic technical data: to prevent spam and abuse, we keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address for a short time. We don’t store the IP address itself.

We never ask for passwords, recovery codes or payment card numbers through this website. Please don’t include them in any message.

How we use it

  • To reply to your request or message and arrange service.
  • To prepare estimates, keep a record of work performed, and honor any warranty.
  • To send you updates about your repair. We don’t send marketing emails without your permission.
  • To keep the website secure and free from spam.

Who processes your information

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the website:

  • Website hosting (Vercel) — serves this website.
  • Database (Supabase) — securely stores repair requests and messages.
  • Email delivery (Resend) — sends confirmation and update emails.

These providers only process information as needed to provide their service to us.

Cookies and tracking

We don't use advertising cookies, analytics cookies or cross-site tracking.

How long we keep it

We keep customer and repair records for 3 years after your most recent service, then delete them unless we're required to keep them longer. Spam-prevention data is deleted automatically after a short period.

Security

Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored in a database that isn’t publicly accessible. Only the business owner can view customer records. If we ever learn of a security incident affecting your information, we’ll notify you as required and explain what happened.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. Contact us at Hunter@midcoasttechworks.com and we’ll respond promptly. We may need to keep some records — for example, of completed paid work — where the law requires it.
